In its 25th year this year, HR Excellence will be celebrating the best strategies from across the function in an extra special ‘HR Walk of Fame’ Hollywood glamour event.
We place a great deal of pride in our awards and this is something that is shared by the HR community. Speaking to past winners, we hear about the impact these accolades have had within their teams - recognised for collaborative effort, strategy and hard work.
Health and Wellbeing Award 2019
In 2018, Three UK dedicated £300,000 to developing it employee wellbeing program. More than just a financial investment alone though, the critical aspect of Three’s success was adopting an employee-driven approach, shaping the program based on feedback, and defining the “Energise, Connect and Balance’ strategy.
Alan Millbrow is the company’s head of wellbeing. Speaking about HR Excellence, he said: “Our team felt proud to win the Health and Wellbeing Award in 2019. We are really pleased to be recognised as leaders in this area and we will continue to listen to our people and adapt our health and wellbeing strategy and support to meet their needs.
In our constantly changing industry we want our people to be fit to play and be their best selves so they can fulfil their potential. This award is an endorsement of the great work our team are doing to support our people to be at their best.”
Best CSR strategy 2019
The Mandarin Oriental hotel in London’s Hyde Park area won best CSR strategy in 2019 for its response the fire that broke out and devastated the building.
In this disaster the people team found opportunity and, to keep staff on board, the company agreed to pay wages for the duration of repairs and encouraged them to take up volunteering opportunities in local charities.
Commenting on his team’s win Jon Dawson, director of HR at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London, said: “The award was great recognition for the colleagues at the hotel and their ongoing commitments to giving back to their local communities.
The award highlighted and raised the awareness of the great skills hospitality professionals have which our colleagues continue to utilise to support others less fortunate through our ongoing CSR strategies.
“Following the award, we have also guided other organisations wanting to adopt similar approaches for their CSR strategy, which in turn is benefiting more community programs while also enhancing the skills of employees of different organisations. It is a win-win for everyone.”
