Rachel Stock, group HR director, Camelot

Rachel Stock started her career in general management with John Lewis before moving into HR.

Commercially focused, she has over 20 years HR experience in a wide range of organisations spanning the media, broadcasting, technology and retail sectors. Stock enjoys really challenging roles which involve delivering organisational change. That means leading the people activity in organisations evolving their business models, often undergoing significant change due to technology advances or changing consumer behaviour. Much of the time this has been in organisations with well-known, high profile, consumer facing brands.

Stock has worked in a diverse set of businesses including those with unionised workforces; in heavily regulated environments; privately owned global corporates; UK plc and PE owned. As a result she has a deep understanding of the different models of governance, regulation and ownership as well as different cultures and business purpose.

Her most recent experience includes group HR director of Trinity Mirror, a plc news business, with titles including the Daily Mirror and Daily Record; HR director at Hearst Magazines with titles including Elle, Harper’s Bazaar & Esquire, part of the global Hearst business headquartered in the US. She also held a number of roles at the BBC including HR director, news & radio, and director of talent & resourcing.

Stock joined Camelot as group HR director in August 2016, and a member of the executive team, reporting to the CEO. As the UK’s National Lottery operator since 1994, and with annual sales in excess of £6.7 billion, Camelot delivers on average over £30 million each week to National Lottery Good Causes. To date, National Lottery players have raised over £37 billion for Good Cause projects, with more than 510,000 individual awards made across the UK – an average of 170 lottery grants in every neighbourhood. Since the launch in 1994, more than 4,600 millionaires or multi-millionaires have been created with over £63 billion to date paid in prize money.
