Before joining Specsavers she spent 20 years in mobile communications, including 12 years with Vodafone, where she was HR director UK; regional HR director for northern Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and global leadership and people capability director.
In 1989 she was HR director at Talkland where she was a member of the management team and reported to the managing director, providing HR and office management service to 400 staff in seven locations.
After Vodafone acquired Talkland in 1996 Best became UK HR and administration director, retail, and was responsible for HR and property issues for 2,500 people and 200 shops as well as being a member of the board.
