The 81-year-old presenter of Strictly Come Dancing said he had accepted the 15% cut in his ‘Brucie Bonus' in goodwill as these are "very hard times".
Speaking to the BBC Newsnight programme, Forsythe added: "It is a good thing to cap the salaries and I think it should have probably been done a long time ago before some of the salaries went out of control.
"We have always been overpaid but it's the demand and what's available. It is like that old saying in the theatre- you only command a high salary if you can put bums on seats. So if you are in that position, does that give you the status to ask for big money?"
