PMI industry leaders to talk about information flow

The private medical insurance (PMI) industry is to hold a discussion panel to address the issue of transparency of claims information.

The Association of Medical Insurance Intermediaries (AMII), the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) and a number of UK private medical insurers will form a discussion panel on 21 January.

Chairman of AMII Mike Izzard said: "The only way to improve flow of information is for all the relevant parties to get together, including the underwriting community, and we hope this panel will go a considerable way to achieving that."

Insurers such as Standard Life, Groupama, Cigna, Axa PPP and Bupa have confirmed they will attend the panel that will include Izzard as well as Peter Staddon, head of technical services at BIBA.

Andy Couchman, managing director of Bankhouse Communications, will independently chair the panel.

Izzard added: "We are delighted to have such an encouraging response from the industry to this discussion of such an important industry topic. We have all agreed to sit together and explore viable and practical solutions. The results of the discussion and ongoing meetings will be announced in due course."
