Orchid ramps up training programmes to NVQ Level 3

The Orchid Group has teamed up with training provider Babcock to increase its Steps to Excellence programme to a Level 3 NVQ.

This development means Steps graduates could gain a qualification equivalent to A-Levels, as well as receiving management training.

The Level 3 NVQ in the Institute of Leadership and Management will also count as UCAS points, offering achievers the chance to apply for University.

Combined with Orchid's new chef apprenticeships, the NVQ completes and lengthens a succession plan, whereby chefs could now get their foot in the door with the apprenticeship and then enter Steps to gain their A-Levels and a recognised qualification.

Although already managers, Steps alumni can also benefit from the newly announced qualification which they will be able to apply for and will ultimately arm them with the tools they need to tackle anything in the pub trade.

A key element in Orchid's training and development is the amount of support dedicated. Everyone within Orchid gets involved, from the HR department to finance, recruitment, commercial and even external companies including Proud to Recommend.

It's within Orchid's culture to recognise talent and work towards unlocking people's potential; the company's Directors also work with the training and development team to ensure graduates have the support they need, with CEO Rufus Hall previously acting as a mentor to one Steps student.
