The council now uses StepStone Solutions' e-recruitment platform to publish every vacancy to its job board. By tracking where successful candidates come from, and focusing its advertising in these areas, as well as using talent pools, it hopes to reduce its media spend by 20%.
In addition the system will unlock efficiencies for both the council's HR function and hiring managers by consolidating its legacy recruitment systems and streamlining tasks, such as allowing candidates to book their own interview slots online.
By the end of 2010, the council also plans to roll out an on-boarding module, so it can issue successful candidates with contracts and other new starter documentation electronically while providing a more consistent joining experience.
It further plans to integrate a psychometric testing platform - enabling a seamless experience for the candidate as well as reducing administration internally.
Keeley Cooper (pictured), recruitment manager at the borough, said: "We're delighted with the rapid improvements the recruitment platform has brought. What we have in place is a flexible solution that will help us make more informed choices about how to find the right candidates for our vacancies and will significantly reduce the time our hiring managers spend on recruitment administration."
Working with StepStone the organisation launched the first phase of the system in February 2010, and has already consolidated several separate recruiting systems down to one. It is expecting to cut its recruitment advertising spend by 20% over the year.
