NEST appoints primary pensions adviser

Global law firm Wragge has been appointed as the primary pensions legal adviser to the NEST (National Employment Savings Trust) Corporation.

NEST Corporation is the trustee body responsible for running the NEST pension scheme. It is a non-departmental public body that operates at arm's length from government and is accountable to Parliament through the Department for Work and Pensions.

NEST will be a simple and low-cost pension scheme designed to give its members an easy way of building up their retirement pot. It is also intended to make it easy for employers to meet their new workplace pension scheme duties that start to be introduced from 2012.

Wragge pensions partners Richard Lee and Glyn Ryland will lead a cross-firm team, with onsite support from solicitors Ian Curry and Jane Whittaker. The team is working closely with NEST's small in-house legal team.

Lee said: "NEST Corporation requires technical excellence, innovative thinking and high-quality advice to implement the far-reaching changes to the UK pensions system."
