Jaguar Land Rover to create 1,300 jobs

Jaguar Land Rover has announced plans to build its first sports utility vehicle (SUV), creating 1,300 new jobs at its Solihull plant in the West Midlands.

Jaguar Land Rover director of human resources Simon Lenton commented: "The creation of the additional 1,300 jobs marks the start of an exciting year for Jaguar Land Rover. With 12 significant product actions planned for this year alone, we continue to invest in delivering more great vehicles to our growing global customer base."

The company has already invested £1.5 billion to increase production at the Solihulll plant. The new employees will be joining a workforce that has doubled over the past few years to more than 32,000 globally, of which 30,500 are based in the UK.

Lenton added: "Great products and great people are the essence of this great British company".
