Holiday firm uses doodles to improve employee development

Holiday Extras has employed a cartoonist to train staff to use cartoons when presenting business ideas.

The company held a development workshop with cartoonist Graham Shaw, a specialist in the psychology of communication.

Shaw, formerly a training manager for British Airways, hosted three workshops on the day looking at how to effectively use images and cartoons when presenting business ideas. The aim was to help Holiday Extras employees improve their presentation skills by learning simple and effective techniques, tried and tested by Graham and his former students.

Shaw said: "In business, the ability to get your ideas across with impact is essential to motivate and inspire people.  It is equally important when selling products or promoting a business and the power of images can often help people listen to and retain information during presentations. "

One of the participants of the cartooning day at Holiday Extras, Anthony Clarke Cowell, head of commercial said: "I'm really pleased with the results of our cartooning session. Most of us find presentations a bit daunting so, with practice, this could be a great tool for getting ideas across more clearly."
