Glasgow 2014 appoints Bill Mitchell

Bill Mitchell has joined Glasgow 2014 as head of HR

Mitchell will be responsible for building an HR and people strategy at the organising committee for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow in 2014. This will involve setting up HR processes and procedures and developing a resourcing strategy for the high-volume recruitment of up to 800 full-time staff and 15,000 volunteers. Mitchell was previously director of HR at law firm Dundas & Wilson and was global director of HR at Black Rock in New York. He said: "The Commonwealth Games will be the most exciting event in Scotland in the next five years and my background in sport as a coach, referee and as a volunteer means I am very excited about this appointment."
