Doosan Babcock to hire 60 graduates

Energy company, Doosan Babcock, has announced it will hire 60 new graduates this year, bucking the wider trend which predicts 2009 will be the worst year ever for graduates trying to find work.

The steam, nuclear and thermo power provider will hire engineers, project managers, construction workers and nuclear services graduates. A further 18 trainee planning engineers will also join the company, as will 35 additional undergraduate internships.

John Iliffe, head of organisational development, Doosan Babcock, said: "We are committed to ensuring we attract and retain a highly skilled workforce to ensure the success of our business through the recession and beyond."

He added: "Recession or no recession, we have to recruit the best people to meet the UK's energy needs."

The news comes on the day the Higher Education Services Unit revealed the UK's top 100 employers say they will be cutting their graduate intakes by 17% - the worst set of figures since the dotcom collapse in 1999-2001.
