Budget 2012: Budget for business will help to fuel optimism, says CMI chief

Christopher Kinsella, acting chief executive at the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) proclaimed the Chancellor’s statement today a “budget for business”.

He said: "We can see the international competition initiatives. This is certainly a budget for business".

The increase in personal tax allowance to £8,105 as of next month was received positively by the CMI, with Kinsella saying: "we can see the benefits of personal tax allowances which will encourage people into employment. Further increases to £10, 000 by the end of the current Parliament in 2015 will only better the situation.

Kinsella admitted: "We are a little disappointed by the lack of de-regulation initiatives, given our focus on cutting red-tape, but know the Government will be doing more in these areas in the near future. The CMI is hoping to see a lot more government intervention generally in the eradication of red tape, especially in the area of recruitment and people leaving organisations."

He commented that after a long recession, CMI surveys show "managerial optimism is starting to pick up and that today's budget for business will help to fuel optimism further.
