Aon's apprenticeship scheme part of plan to develop staff with right skills

Aon is piloting an apprenticeship scheme within its general insurance division as a solution to recruiting staff with the right skills.

The insurance broker has been working with the National Skills Academy for Financial Services (NSAFS) to recruit apprentices and enhance training.

So far apprentices, ranging from school leavers to graduates, have been placed at offices in Farnborough, Bristol, Leicester and Glasgow and are working towards completing NVQs and Chartered Institute of Insurance qualifications.

Diane Armstrong, operational and regulatory training manager at Aon's Affinity division, said: "The apprenticeship scheme gives Aon a chance to develop staff to ensure they have the right skills for the business. Feedback from apprentices has been overwhelmingly positive and their enthusiasm is motivating other staff to upskill with a number enquiring if they can be given the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship."
