Neil Morrison, director, strategy, culture and innovation, Penguin Random House

After starting his working life as a lecturer in psychology, Neil Morrison worked in a variety of HR roles at FTSE100 companies, including Rentokil Initial and GUS (which later became Home Retail Group). He joined the Random House Group in 2008 and has been one of the main leads in helping to steer the merger with Penguin – the most significant in publishing history.

On joining Random House Neil Morrison took responsibility for strategic people issues across its publishing and distribution offices in the UK, Australia, India and New Zealand. Since 2010 he has also sat on the main board.

Morrison is a regular commentator on HR and workplace issues and has written for a number of trade and generalist publications and websites, as well as his own blog, Change-Effect. In 2013 he was named HR Director of the Year at the HR Excellence Awards.
