Skyrme said employers must look to invest more into helping employees understand the positive effect managing your energy can have on their mental health and wellbeing.
She welcomed the increasing number of companies offering more "holistic rewards", which have a beneficial impact on employees mental health.
"Optimising energy is more than a wellness programme, more than time management, more than an employee assistance programme or providing internal coaching services," Skyrme said.
"It offers employees a chance to develop their own personal potential which benefits both their work and private lives."
Skyrme will be one of the speakers at next month's Why Mental Health Matters – An HR Conference. HR magazine is a media partner of the event.
Organised by Maudsley Learning, the conference aims to offer practical advice and support in recognising mental health issues among employees.
There will be an expert panel of speakers, including HR magazine columnist Stephen Bevan, CIPD head of public policy Ben Willmott and University of Sheffield HR director Andy Dodman.
