Westbury Street Holdings invests in leadership development across five businesses

Contract catering company, Westbury Street Holdings (WSH), has launched a training course to develop leaders across its five businesses.

'The Leadership Journey' – a development programme which has been specifically designed to support internal promotions, while also helping WSH to improve the performance of its operations teams – was officially launched last week to WSH's 100 operations managers from BaxterStorey, benugo, Caterlink, Holroyd Howe and Portico.

Alastair Storey, CEO of WSH, said: "Central to our business success is the investment we make in training and developing our people. 'The Leadership Journey' enables operations managers to focus on their own strengths and areas they need to develop further.

"By being open to developing themselves, we believe our operations managers will get more from their own teams, which we see as hugely important for the growth of our business in the long term."

Senior directors from across WSH analysed the operations manager role and together created a new profile that is very different to the standard job description. They also identified six 'leadership behaviours' that differentiate great operations managers.

'The Leadership Journey' kicks off with an in-depth development centre, providing each operations manager with a personal development plan. The operations managers can then select from a suite of over 20 bespoke training modules to meet their own specific needs.

Designed by experts within the businesses, with support from leading development consultancy Epiphanies, 'The Leadership Journey' is a long-term investment in management talent. It is hoped it will ensure WSH businesses have a pipeline of potential operations directors to fuel future business growth and ultimately, it will help to drive business performance.
