Tulip UK and Cornwall College Business work to recruit 100 newly redundant workers

Tulip UK has announced plans to recruit 100 people, due to growing demand for pork and bacon products.

The company, which employs 1,900 staff and is behind brands such as Danepak, Spam and Stagg, has launched the recruitment drive with the support of Cornwall College Business's Response to Redundancy programme, which helps fill vacancies with people going through a redundancy process.

The programme allows the company to have one-to-one appointments with potential candidates, giving them an opportunity to find out about the various production roles that Tulip is looking to fill, to help them learn more about the business, and also offer them a four-day training programme prior to attending a full interview.

Tulip's divisional HR manager, Steve McLaughlin, explains: "We are very fortunate, particularly given the current economic climate, to be in a position where we are looking to add to our permanent workforce.

"As a leading employer in the county it is important that we support the local community. We are very keen to help those people who have lost their jobs over recent months get back into employment at the earliest possible opportunity and therefore are delighted to be able to work with the Cornwall College Business on this initiative."
