Training providers and colleges join forces to launch scheme to help unemployed get skilled and back to work

NCG, a provider of education, training and employability, has launched a concept to support job seekers struggling to find work.

As the Government is expected to release the latest unemployment figures this week, NCG has launched the Employment Gateway, which is believed to be the first of its kind in the education and training sector.

Using the expertise of national training provider Intraining, Newcastle College and West Lancashire College - all divisions of NCG - the Employment Gateway is designed to give unemployed people the necessary support to help them get back into work, training or to gain essential employment skills.

The new service is available to those who are in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance, Employment Support Allowance or inactive benefits.

The service was developed in response to the country's growing unemployment and the Government's agenda to help more people back into work.

Delivered by Intraining, a contractor for the Government's flagship Work Programme and located within Newcastle College and West Lancashire College, the Employment Gateway provides customers with a range of services tailored to their individual needs.

Team members work with customers to develop core employability skills, such as CV writing and interview techniques. They can also gain help in finding suitable job vacancies and can access training and support to help overcome any barriers preventing them getting work.

The Gateway also helps customers to access a number of short employability courses covering a wide range of subjects from English and maths to business administration, customer services and health and care. These courses are designed to help the customer to gain confidence and support them back into the job market.

In addition, customers can also benefit from a self-service touch screen tool, which provides job vacancies broken down by industry sector or geographical area, direct from Job Centre Plus.

Intraining also delivers training for NCG prime contracts for the Work Programme in Birmingham, Solihull and the Black Country and North East Yorkshire and Humberside.
