TNT Post to create 5,000 jobs in 2014

TNT Post plans to create almost 5,000 new jobs in 2014, its COO Nigel Polglass has said.

Speaking to HR, Polglass said the company, which was formed in 2003 and is the UK’s second largest postal provider, has completed a “very detailed” business plan, including workforce planning.

“Next year, I know we will need 4,920 people,” he said. “Over the next five years we will recruit around 20,000 people. Many will be working delivering mail but we have opportunities across the whole business.”

Polglass was speaking to HR after TNT announced it was investing more in its apprenticeship schemes. He said the company has a “definite commitment” to tackling youth unemployment.

“Many companies have had to tighten their belts over the past five years and the workers that have been most affected are young people,” he said.
