Six Poundland stores planned for Northern Ireland will create 210 jobs

Poundland is to expand into Northern Ireland, creating 210 retail jobs.

The budget store already has 227 stores across Britain, and the move to Northern Ireland means the firm is poised to launch a recruitment drive in the province offering employment to local communities.

Chief executive Jim McCarthy said: "We are very excited about taking Poundland to Northern Ireland. It is another step forward for us as part of our growth strategy."

The firm is to open six outlets in Northern Ireland with the first due to open in Belfast next month. A further 40 stores are planned to be opened across the UK in the coming financial year.
