Piccolo claims top IRP award

The recruitment sector has helped more than 630,000 people find a permanent new job and 1.1 million into a contractor or temp position in the past year.

Part of this is down to the work of the recruitment firms celebrated at the seventh Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP) Awards. The gala event was hosted by Reverend Richard Coles and attended by more than 400 guests at Park Plaza hotel, Westminster, on Friday.

The top individual prize, Recruiter of the Year, went to Francesca Piccolo from Resourcing Group. Piccolo also claimed the Temporary Consultant of the Year Award. The coveted Lifetime Achievement Award went to David Head of Recruitment International.

The best large recruiter (with more than 250 employees) was Matchtech Group, whose Claire Anderson won the In-house Recruiter of the Year.

"We have had more entries this year than ever before," said Recruitment and Employment Confederation CEO Kevin Green. "The entries were also of a higher quality than in previous years. It was tougher to judge and decide who should win.

"All those on tonight’s shortlist are already winners in the eyes of your peers. But if you are lucky enough to come up on to this stage later this evening, you are a true champion and a role model."
