HR Excellence Awards winners announced

More than 620 HR professionals attended the 19th HR Excellence Awards gala at the Park Lane Hilton. Here is the full list of HR Excellence Awards 2014 winners.

The Dorchester collection won four awards, including the Gold Award for outstanding work across all areas of HR.

Other winners on the night included Iceland CEO Malcolm Walker (Most People-Focused CEO: Private Sector), Gentoo Group CEO Peter Walls (Most People-Focused CEO: Public and Not-for-Profit Sector), Cafcass senior HR projects officer Greg Styger (Young Talent of the Year) and LOROL HR business partner Alison Bell (HR Practitioner of the Year).

Bell (pictured) told HR magazine she was delighted her hard work, and that of her team, had been recognised.

"I'm very proud of the changes we've implemented within the business," she said. "It's fantastic to receive this, not just for myself but also for the organisation."

HR magazine editor Arvind Hickman said this year’s winners illustrate the power of good people management to help organisations overcome a challenging business environment.

“I’d like to congratulate the winners; we’ve had a record number of entries and the competition this year has been fierce. There’s been some great initiatives in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors – it’s been a pleasing spread,” he said.

“It’s also been a record year in terms of number of entries – up 25% – and attendance. We’ve seen growth across the board, but particularly in the recruitment and L&D categories, indicating that companies are hiring more and investing in their talent. It all bodes well for the future.”
