Asda to create 7,500 jobs next year

The UK's second largest supermarket has announced the creation of 7,500 jobs next year.

Asda — owned by US company Wal-Mart — says that increased sales both on and off line and the opening and acquisition of shops has increased its need for drivers, managers, pharmacists and shopfloor colleagues.

Earlier this year Asda said it would create 15,000 retail apprenticeships, 10,000 seasonal jobs, and 15,000 work experience placements (for 14-16 year olds).

Andy Clarke, Asda CEO and president, said: " "At Asda we always recruit for attitude and train for skill, so you needn’t have previous retail experience to apply.

"We're simply looking for people who share our passion for customer service."
