Aegis Media trials gate-entry system as a means of surveying employees

Aegis Media is trialing what is thought to be the world’s first interactive gate entry system, using RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification).

Called the Swipe Survey, this groundbreaking idea transforms the NFC entry gates at Aegis Media's Regents Place building in London, into a real-time voting system.

The Swipe Survey has been created by out of a desire to digitalise everyday human behaviour and was pioneered in-house by Glue Isobar and Isobar Mobile.

As each of the 1,000 employees enter the building, they will be presented with screens featuring questions such as 'Who will win the 100 meter race today?' and three options. The turnstile they choose to swipe through (one of three) will correspond to their chosen answer, as the technology enables glue Isobar to instantly collect staff and visitor opinion.

The data will then be used to create sophisticated visualisations that chart the consensus of the building. Beyond the Olympics the Swipe Survey will continue to engage employees, clients and visitors on a diverse range of topics, from current affairs to ways of improving work life.

The Swipe Survey is being launched as part of Aegis Media's "Going For Gold" initiative - a range of activities and events for staff over the next fortnight.

Beyond the Olympics, the NFC activity will support a number of the initiatives across the group. Never applied to human behaviour in this way before, glue Isobar's innovative integration of the building presents a multitude of broader opportunities. The longer term vision for the technology includes everything from collecting staff opinion on issues affecting them, to researching opinion ahead of pitches or conducting research on behalf of clients - all by immersing innovative technology into everyday routine.
