HR Transformation Technology - Delivery Systems to Support the New HR Model

Authors: Allan Borough, Les Palmer, Ian Hunter
Publisher: Gower
Price: £65.00
Rating: 3 out of 5

The phrase 'don't judge a book by its cover' was made for this book. This worthy tome won't stand out on the bookshelves, nor will the history lesson - in the first few chapters - on how the HR and technology functions have evolved. But preservere. This is not a book about the latest technology. In true 'IT is just an enabler'form, it provides a template for implementing an IT/HR change management project. Everything from planning, resourcing, identifying stakeholders, project documentation, sign off, and getting wider company buy-in are methodically covered. After reading this you shouldn't want to approach projects in any other way.

Know Can Do! - Put Your Know-How into Action
Authors: Ken Blanchard, Paul Meyer, Dick Ruhe
Publisher: Berrett-Koeher Publishers Inc
Price: £9.09
Rating: 4 out of 5

Most people only remember 50% of what they heard three hours before. A day later they have forgotten another 50% of that, and within a month they will only recall 5% of the initial content. Know-Can Do! promises to solve this, extolling the principle of 'spaced repetition' - learning less, more often. It's written in a kooky style, is unashamedly American, but strangely compulsive. Particularly enjoyable was the chapter on how listening without preconceptions can massively affect retention of learning. Still unconvinced? You're reading this without an open mind. Drop any bias you may have and give this a try. You may be surprised by what you find.
