How the recession has changed our views on the use of discount coupons and vouchers

People used to be slightly embarrassed about pulling out a voucher to get money off in a shop and restaurant. But the recession has changed that, with coupon usage hitting record highs. Offering vouchers as a benefit has become increasingly popular, and employees are no longer sniffy about using them. There are lots to choose from; here are just a few:

  • For employees who love shopping, big brands including House of Fraser, New Look, Argos and The White Company offer cards and vouchers – some at discount rates.
  • Filmology offers discount cinema vouchers to employers who want to reward staff with something a bit different.
  • Offering a tastecard as a benefit gives staff half price or two-for-one meals in many top chains and local restaurants.
  • The new Virgin gift card can be used on Virgin brands ranging from Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Holidays and even Virgin Balloon Flights.
