Gail Clark, Head of workforce change, London Borough of Barking and Dagenham

Gail Clark is currently the head of workforce change

She took up this role in April 2017, and is responsible for all the HR/OD services supporting the council’s cultural change, transformation programmes, and service improvement to deliver a 'New Kind of Council'. This year Barking and Dagenham was named LGC’s Council of the Year and has won many other accolades. Clark was personally involved in helping the council win the Transforming the Working Environment award at the Excellence in People Management awards, and in helping the council achieve Silver Investors in People status.

She has previously held group manager positions for business change and strategy, organisational development, support and development, and joined the council as head of HR for education, arts and libraries in 2002.

Former roles include HR manager at Slough Borough Council, education personnel manager at the London Borough of Redbridge, and head of governor support training and information, also at Redbridge.

Clark holds a postgraduate diploma in human resource management from Anglia Ruskin University.
