Collings is co-director of DCU's Leadership and Talent Institute

He will be based at Cornell University’s Industrial and Labor Relations School as a Fulbright Scholar in Autumn 2017.

Prior to joining DCU, Collings held faculty positions at the National University of Ireland and the University of Sheffield and visiting positions at King’s College London and Nanyang Business School in Singapore.

He is a leading international expert on talent management and global mobility. His work focuses on how organisations can develop more strategic approaches to managing talent and delivering sustainable performance. His current research explores issues such as boomerang hires, the shifting nature of employment, and managing performance in organisations. He is a regular speaker at corporate events and recent engagements include organisations such as the Bank of Ireland, the Danish Confederation of Industry, EADS Airbus, Enterprise Ireland, GE, Intel, KPMG, Medtronic, Novartis and Stryker.

Collings has been named as one of the Most Influential Thinkers in the field of HR for four consecutive years by HR magazine (2014 to 2017). He has published numerous papers in leading international outlets, seven books, and his work is regularly cited in media and other outlets. His most recent project, The Oxford Handbook of Talent Management with Wayne Cascio and Kamel Mellahi, will be published in 2017.

Collings is deputy editor, HRM and talent management at the Journal of World Business and former joint-editor of the Human Resource Management Journal. He is also permanent chair of the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management’s workshop on talent management.
