In 1999 Chris Rayner became HR director for Granada Restaurants and, following its merger with Compass the following year, was made HR development director and then, in 2003, HRD of the then Compass-owned food travel operator SSP Group.
Rayner began his career in retail management with Sainsbury’s, Texas Homecare and HR consultancy Coopers & Lybrand, where he advised businesses on planning and implementing change.
