The survey identified a correlation between Britons who were excited about the event and those who felt optimistic about the UK economy and their personal finances during 2012.
But Mark Baxter, director of recruiter Greythorn, said: "While people may not be hugely enthused by the games themselves, if they look beyond the two weeks of sport, they may find other things to excite them. The games will deliver a boost of £5.1 billion to the economy and the legacy of London looks set to be stronger than any of the past five games.
"There will be 103,000 permanent and temporary jobs created which will exceed the 77,000 created by Atlanta and the 20,000 created by Barcelona, and at a time like this, that might make even the most hardened naysayer smile."
