Government invests £250,000 in third sector workforce development

Skills – Third Sector’s ongoing work to support the development of the third sector workforce has received renewed government funding of £250,000 for 2012/2013 from the Office for Civil Society.

This will enable Skills-Third Sector to continue to work with employers to raise ambition on skills in the third sector and to generate solutions to meet the workforce skills needs of employers.

Skills-Third Sector will also continue to conduct research to establish a more comprehensive understanding of the nature of the third sector workforce; build up knowledge of how skills are used and how work is organised in the sector and undertake forecasting and planning for the future skills needs of the third sector.

Keith Mogford, chief executive of Skills - Third Sector said: "We are grateful to the Office for Civil Society for acknowledging our work to date, and the importance of skills to the third sector. This grant will help to ensure that voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations have the people with the right skills to be effective and resilient in meeting the changing needs of society."
