An IOR is born: recruitment/HR membership organisation launches today

The Institute of Recruiters (IOR), a professional membership body that brings recruitment and HR practitioners together under one roof, opens its doors to members from today (1 June).

Founded to represent the interests of recruiters and HR professionals both in the UK and overseas, the not-for-profit organisation offers a wide range of benefits and services to its members, with a strong emphasis on education. It plans to have a distinct focus on professional education that allows members to grow their careers and businesses through internationally recognised university qualifications, although details have yet to be announced.

The IOR also provides access to free software, best practice guides, knowledge webinars, CPD training, model documents, support and advice. Membership of the IOR is available on several levels, based on assessed and qualified standards.

Dave Barber, director of member services at the IOR, said: "We have been thrilled with the volume of activity that has taken place in the IOR's LinkedIn Group in the lead-up to the launch, which has shown there is a real need for a body such as the IOR within the sector. The organisation will be a hub of best practice, where members can share knowledge, collaborate and connect with peers from across the world. We are excited to start welcoming members into the organisation."

The IOR says it has worked hard to find the most relevant and highest quality partners to offer services and training to its members. These include Cisco Systems, HR Insight, Peninsula and VI International.
