Carter is a member of the GKN executive committee, the committee sponsor for the diversity and inclusive initiative, and drives all aspects of people excellence at GKN.
At her previous employer AkzoNobel Carter held the position of HR director specialty chemicals and corporate functions (2012 to 2014), based in the Netherlands. Before that she was AkzoNobel's HR director functional chemicals (2010 to 2012), again based in the Netherlands. She moved there in 2009 from Singapore, where she was HR director paints Asia Pacific from 2007.
Prior to this, Carter worked for Imperial Chemicals Industries in London as HRD from 2005. Her early career was spent in HR management and learning and development with the Comet Group and LEGOLAND.
Carter graduated from the University of Luton (now the University of Bedfordshire) with a Bachelor's degree in business and psychology, and has a postgraduate HR qualification from the University of East Anglia.
