Procter & Gamble launches online careers fairs

Procter & Gamble (P&G) has launched online careers fairs to reach as large a talent pool as possible.

Through a fully interactive environment, P&G is bringing its career fairs to students across Western Europe. Building on the success of last year’s first Virtual Careers Fair, P&G is organising two virtual fairs this year to reach an even larger pool of diverse top talent.

The first fair will take place on 21 October and will be open between 1 pm and 7 pm CET. Students can start registering as of 13 September.  The second fair is scheduled for February/March 2011.

The P&G Virtual Career Fairs offers many benefits for students who want to get a sense of what it would be like to work in the global organisation. It is a unique opportunity to meet with P&G managers and recruiters from across Western Europe. Participants can connect to P&G Virtual Career Fairs from their computer without the need to travel. Students are able to chat with company representatives, network with peers, watch P&G videos, as well as directly apply for vacancies, all done remotely from a computer in their home environment.

Last year, more than 1,200 students attended the fair interacting with more than 200 P&G representatives. Students confirmed that interacting with P&G managers in this way worked very well and gave real insight into the company. One of the participants mentioned: "All of the P&G representatives were very friendly and more than willing to answer all the bunch of questions. Moreover I made really valuable connections both with P&G representatives and other students."

Giorgio Siracusa, P&G general manager HR Western Europe, said: "This is such a great way for students interested in P&G to get to know us. It moves away from the traditional recruitment approach and is another step for us to engage with Gen Y students. The Virtual Careers Fair allows students, in their own time and space, to gain a real insight of what it would be like to work with one of the world’s leading organizations. It’s taken recruitment to a new level and is proving very successful in attracting top talent."
