Nominations open for HRD of the Year award

Last year's winner was Karen Beaven, HR director at River Island

Nominations are now open for the HR Director of the Year award in the 2016 HR Excellence Awards.

You can nominate an HR director, or yourself, by filling in this short form.

Readers will then decide who has made the most effective contribution to development of HR strategy during 2015/16 from a shortlist developed by the HR magazine editorial team, using reader nominations and input from industry experts.

Previous winners include Karen Beaven, HR director at River Island, Eugenio Pirri, vice president, people and organisational development at Dorchester Collection, and Neil Morrison, group HR director, UK and international companies at Penguin Random House.

Pirri, who received his award in 2014, described winning as “a real surprise and an honour”.

“The calibre of people shortlisted alongside myself was incredibly high and so any one of us could have taken home the coveted title,” he told HR magazine. “And if I had not won I would still have been honoured to stand alongside those in my category, proud to have been shortlisted. While there was just one award available I made several new friends that evening. That's the beauty of the HR Excellence Awards; you don't just leave with a trophy, you leave with a new network of peers who you can learn from and be challenged by."

He added: "I would encourage others to enter, share their stories, and take pride in the incredible value they add to their organisations."

The gala dinner and awards ceremony for the 21st annual HR Excellence Awards will take place on Tuesday 28 June at the prestigious London Hilton on Park Lane.
