The initiative will mean the brewery will close for business for 72 hours to hold a ‘learning day' for staff where they will be educated in health and safety, environment, wellbeing, marketing, and the latest manufacturing technologies.
Staff will also be trained on pollution prevention, hygiene, the safety aspects of asbestos and cost busting. The will also have personal development sessions.
The idea was put forward by staff at Leeds and if the pilot is successful, the scheme will be rolled out nationwide.
Leeds Brewery director Andy Hume said: "Our people are key to our success and we're shutting down the site to demonstrate our commitment to their development. By offering dedicated time away from the day job to learn, we aim to equip our staff effectively for a changing and challenging business environment."
