Londoners say: "Improve my office and I will improve my performance"

Over 65% of London-based employees would work overtime and improve their performance at work if their offices were more desirable and comfortable to work in, according to a survey released today.

The survey, Working in London 2012, by London-based property developer DeVono, showed that just under half of those surveyed singled out the office temperature for improving their comfort at work.

DeVono co-director, Adam Landau, said: "Business bosses are quickly realising that by offering the best working environments they are likely to gain better performances from existing staff and also attract the best candidates during a recruitment process."

The survey found that keeping fit is important for Londoners, with nearly half (49.2%) choosing gym access as the best perk a company could offer.

Landau said: "Working in London is so fast-paced and people need a greater work/life balance, which is why gyms in the workplace are such an incentive."

The popularity of cycling would continue to rise if their company offered shower and changing facilities and bike storage areas, the survey found. Just fewer than half (47.5%) said they would consider biking to work if their company offered such facilities.

Over 1,000 London-based employees completed the online survey in July 2012.
