Kwik-Fit Financial Services gives part-time call centre staff work experience across its business

Kwik-Fit Financial Services has launched a new summer placement scheme, offering students already working part-time in its call centre the opportunity to gain work experience in other parts of the Kwik-Fit business which reflects their further education discipline, such as finance, HR, legal and marketing.

Kwik-Fit Financial Services main call centre in Uddingston, Lanarkshire, currently employs more than 1,000 people and was named in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work in 2010.

The placement scheme is open to all part-time call centre staff attending either college or university who have completed at least one year of their studies. This year 16 members of staff applied for a placement and following a rigorous interview process, seven lucky candidates were selected to take up numerous positions across the business.

Lynne Miller, head of HR and training at Kwik-Fit Financial Services, said: "We're really proud to be able to offer such a substantial summer placement scheme which is extremely valuable and beneficial both for us as a company and for the students involved.

"The programme was implemented to encourage positive employee engagement and to retain and develop the talent we already have in our call centre staff. We hope that following this experience the students will further develop their career here at Kwik-Fit Financial Services."

The placements are designed to run over six-week periods. All the students are undertaking individual projects in various department areas relating to their degree discipline. Departments on board include HR and training, pricing, finance, information security, warketing and e-commerce and facilities, withthe onsite nursery, also participating.

Kwik-Fit Financial Services will gather feedback about the placement scheme from both the students participating and the relevant departments in September 2011, with a view to continuing the scheme next summer.
