Free step-by-step practical guide on HR issues on offer from Randstad

Randstad has launched a free annual guide to HR and employment issues for UK employers.

The step-by-step practical guide will provide reference point for HR professionals and SME managers and owners, to keep them up-to-date with developments in employment legislation, and help them navigate the minefield of ever-changing employment and health and safety law.

The Randstad workpocket 2010/11 contains insights into HR and employment best practice and features case studies from leading organisations including, Aviva, KPMG and Stanza Consulting, and Local Employment Partnerships.

The pocket guide gives a concise overview of issues ranging from setting up an HR strategy through to managing staff, interviewing, selecting and recruiting team members, and pensions and benefit schemes.

In the wake of the financial crisis, expectations and the role of the HR has changed, moving towards a more strategic function. Additions for the latest edition of workpocket include a chapter on ‘putting value on the HR role’ and two sections on rehiring and rewards in an upturn, and nurturing future leaders.

Vicky Short, operations director, Randstad Staffing, said: "We are delighted that we can offer employers this complimentary guide as part of our commitment to our clients. The workpocket is designed for businesses of all sizes. However, it is particularly useful for SMEs who often don’t have a dedicated HR resource or access to expert employment advice."

"Now in its eighth year, the workpocket is better than ever. We have adapted it based on feedback from our clients and made it relevant for the next 12 months and the challenging environment we are operating in. It includes guidance on social networking sites, how to capitalise on the upturn and the changing role HR is playing within organisations following the downturn."
