Experts predict revival of war for talent in 10 years and regeneration of recruitment search sector

In 10 years' time a war for talent will resume and recruitment consultancies are expected to enjoy a renaissance as employers look for scarcer talented staff in increasingly splintered markets, according to a panel of industry experts.

As part of its research on the future of HR, Jobsite asked academics, HR professionals, recruitment consultants, commentators and business owners what they expect to see from the recruitment industry in 2019. They predicted a more diverse talent pool than we see today with more older workers and working parents looking for something more than the standard nine-to five-hour day.

The experts expect ‘the candidate will become king', which means in the war for talent it will be candidates that decide the new recruitment processes. But the predicted candidate pool will make employer branding much more important in recruitment marketing.

Keith Potts, CEO of Jobsite.co.uk, comments: "In [the past 15 years], the industry has changed almost beyond recognition and, as this report shows, that's going to continue.

"As recruitment becomes more fragmented and complicated, everyone involved in the industry will have to evolve if they are to survive - ourselves included.

"2019 may seem a long way off, but the expert predictions that make up the report are based in the here and now. HR professionals, recruitment consultancies and those of us working for job boards need to start making plans today if we are to meet the challenges of tomorrow successfully."
