Engaging the workforce is the top priority for HR in 2013, report finds

Engaging the workforce and developing leaders are the top priorities for HR professionals in 2013, a report published today by SHL has found.

In the 2013 Global Assessment Trends Report, it found that performance management, workforce planning/talent analytics and training and development rounded out the top five priorities for HR professionals this year.

In the report of 592 HR professionals, respondents were asked to indicate whether certain areas of HR were a top, medium or low priority for their organisation.

The report states that these priorities reflect the continuing importance, in an increasingly competitive global economy, of maximising the contribution of existing employees and leveraging their experience of the business.

Other key priorities for 2013 that were indicated included succession planning, career development and external hiring.

The report included results from an online survey of 592 HR professionals completed in November 2012.
