DeVere people director to talk about 'behavioural competence' on live web TV debate

Mike Williams, director of people development at DeVere Hotels and Village Urban Resorts, will discuss how the 6,000 employee-strong company is closing the skills gap by moving recruitment spend into his learning and development budget at HR magazine’s live web TV show on 27 November.

Williams is joined by Paul Sissons, senior researcher at The Work Foundation, and Dereth Wood, director of operations at learndirect, which is supporting the HR Lunchtime Debate on Improving the nation's skills: practical steps to help employers close the skills gap in today's workplace.

Williams will tell viewers how DeVere has invested in behavioural training. "It is easy to teach standards but in the service sector behavioural competence is a big issue," he says.

The HR Lunchtime Debate will be broadcast live at 13.00 GMT on Tuesday 27 November from the Financial Times studio in London. Viewers can field their questions to our panel and take part in live interactive research. To find more information and register for the event please click here.
