The survey of more than 2,000 British workers found 58% of employees were proud of their profession on average.
In comparison, only 32% rail workers, 44% of accountants and 45% of nurses said they felt proud of their profession.
The top three professions where people feel the proudest were insurance (90%), property (83%) and media (81%).
The research also found that pride correlates to time spent in work. In those professions were staff feel the proudest, they tend to spend more time at work.
Tara Ricks, managing director of Randstand Financial and Professional, said: “A sense of pride in the workplace doesn’t automatically mean that employees are more committed to their jobs, but a lack of it presents a very real, organisational risk. When employees are less engaged with their profession, they are less likely to go above and beyond the minimum requirement in terms of their weekly hours.”
