Move of the month - Teri Ellison, head of HR, UK and Ireland, SAP

Teri Ellison has been appointed head of HR UK and Ireland, SAP. She joins the company after running her own consultancy

What does your new role involve?

In addition to the good old basics - attracting, retaining and developing employees - I am working on ensuring the smooth integration of SAP and Business Objects following the acquisition last year. I am responsible for 800 UK and Ireland SAP employees and 470 Business Objects staff.

What attracted you to the role?

SAP is a dynamic global company with an international workforce. We have 100 different offices worldwide and there is a lot of movement between them as the company encourages employees to share best practice. I was also excited by the challenge of working on the integration of two global companies and looking at ways of ensuring employees remain motivated.

What skills and experience do you bring?

I have 15 years' experience in the IT industry in HR and business roles. My business experience has given me insight into the development needs of employees.

What's the greatest challenge over the next 12 months?

The greatest challenge I see is making sure we grow our own talent internally. The talent pool is becoming smaller and smaller and we're dipping into the same pool as our competitors. If we can grow talent internally and retain them, we will be in a better position to meet our goals.

What do you do to unwind?

Spend time with my husband and son. Running's also a great way to unwind. I used to do triathlons but now it's more about keeping fit and feeling good.
