Kensington and Chelsea revamps recruitment process

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is to streamline its recruitment process and implement an e-recruitment solution to save time and money.

The Council, which employs 2,500 staff, is working with software provider StepStone and using psychometric assessments from SHL to recruit the 500 new staff it needs every year.

The new integrated solution asseses candates' behavioural style as well as verbal and numerical ability. The system also analyses potential employees' reliabilty and customer service style.

Applications will be automated allowing line managers quick, easy and flexible access to results.

Keeley Cooper (pictured), recruitment manager at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, said: "We have been using SHL tools for more than five years and feel confident in continuing to work with SHL in our new recruitment drive.

"Integrating SHL's assessment solutions with StepStone's e-recruitment system allows us to streamline all of our recruitment and make the whole process easier. Not only will the candidate have a better recruitment experience, but we can now spend less time administering tests and more time involved in valuable face-to-face sessions with candidates, such as role play and group interaction."
