Tim Jones, group head of HR, London Stock Exchange
HR magazine, September 18, 2017
Tim Jones joined the London Stock Exchange Group in 2010 and was appointed group head of HR in 2011
During his time at LSEG Tim has overseen a period of continued growth in market capitalisation, diversification of product and location, as LSEG has grown from a stock exchange to a global financial markets infrastructure business.
Whilst this growth has been both organic and inorganic, M&A has been where Tim and his team have most tangibly been able to demonstrate HR’s contribution to the evolution of the Group. High value, complex, multi-country transactions include the acquisition of LCH, Frank Russell Company, Mergent Inc and The Yield Book and have seen LSEG expand to 5,000 colleagues across more than 20 countries.
Beyond M&A, Tim‘s challenges include actively responding to the dynamics of a fast-paced industry and the changing regulatory landscape to attract, develop and retain diverse talent across the Group. He is responsible for managing key stakeholder groups including LSEG’s Remuneration Committee and Pension Trustee, whilst managing a global team of HR colleagues of circa 150.
Tim’s passion is education and learning. He has delivered guest lectures and workshops at Bath University and most recently supported the MBA programme at Cass University through a series of workshops. Tim is also the key sponsor of LSEG graduate and intern programmes and he is a regular speaker at external HR and business speaking events and panels.
Previously he held a range of HR roles at advertising and media group Aegis, latterly as HRD for Western Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Tim started his career in commercial and financial roles on the management programme at Marks & Spencer, for which he worked in management and senior HR positions in the UK and overseas.
