Martin Tiplady is one of the most well-known leaders in HR.
He's held HR director positions in both the private and public sectors, including Berkeley Group, Westminster Health Care Holdings and the Housing Corporation. But it is in his most recent position, as HR director of the Metropolitan Police Service for nine years, that his influence was publicly recognised. He appeared in the top four HR Most Influential Practitioners ranking between 2008-2010 and was awarded the OBE in 2010 for services to HR in the police and in particular the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).
He was a member of the main board of the MPS, a member of the Association of Chief Police Officers and deputy chair of the ACPO workforce development and HR portfolio, as well as a member of various HR think tanks and review bodies. Today Tiplady runs HR and management consultancy Chameleon People Solutions and is a senior associate with The HR Lounge. He’s a chartered companion of the CIPD, senior independent director (vice chair) at Midland Heart, on the leadership board of people leadership network The People Space and former non-executive director of Roffey Park Institute.
