HRMI 2021: John Amaechi, founder, APS Intelligence

John Amaechi is a chartered scientist, respected organisational psychologist and the founder of APS Intelligence, a consultancy that partners with organisations across sectors to help them imagine and execute a better way to create thriving, adaptable workplaces.

Amaechi works alongside a diverse array of psychologists, behavioural scientists, organisational and management experts.

Together his team have developed their proprietary APEX insights engine that ensure APS Intelligence’s diagnostic, analytical, advisory and L&D interventions deliver tangible results.

Amaechi is also a non-executive director and HR scrutiny committee chair for the country’s largest NHS Trust (Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust) as well as the FTSE 250 food company, Greencore Group. He is a coach and board advisor to several other FTSE100 boards.

His first book was New York Times bestseller, and his new leadership book The Promises of Giants became a Sunday Times bestseller.

Amaechi grew up and went to school in Stockport before traveling to the United States for undergraduate and postgraduate university. He is the first Brit to have a career in National Basketball Association and feature in the US Basketball Hall of Fame.

Earlier in 2021, he lived a childhood dream and was endorsed as a Jedi, by the original Luke Skywalker, Mark Hamill himself!
