CIPD modernises qualifications for HR and L&D professionals

The CIPD has launched new qualifications to help people professionals solve the new challenges of the modern workplace.

Streamlining the initial number of qualifications from 17 to five, the new programme is based on the CIPD’s Profession Map, aligning core knowledge, behaviours and specialist knowledge with professional purpose.

The overall aim of this realignment, according to CIPD professional development director Victoria Winkler, is to help the body better support professionals through every stage of their career, from student level to senior practitioner.

Each of the five qualification levels are aligned to CIPD membership grades, so when studying students become Student Members of the CIPD and then advance in membership as they develop.

In the announcement today, Winkler said: “CIPD qualifications enhance and prove an individual’s capabilities as a people professional to potential employers.

“They lead to CIPD designation and membership which not only increases career prospects and earning potential but also provides support to HR and L&D professionals throughout their career."

Qualification will be offered to students on a blended basis, meaning they can opt to study entirely online, face to face (when restrictions allow) or a mix of both.

The new qualification levels are now live, though enrolment onto current CIPD qualifications will remain open until 31 July 2021.
